Friday evening after work, I met Becka (link HERE) and our kids at the Expo.
Now, Becka and I were at Princess together, and I had no issues with that Expo.
THIS expo, for whatEVER reason, seemed like a cluster. Maybe it was the kids. Maybe it was the construction at the hotel. Maybe it was the volunteer with poor wording.... Whatever it was, I was unimpressed with the whole shebang. I ended up walking out with only a headband for race day, and nothing else.
Maybe that's the key to expo'ing - bring a billion kids and be quick to get out without dropping serious cash.
After the expo, we ran to Downtown Disney for a quick dinner, then I dropped Becka, L, A and H off at their hotel... then home for an early bedtime... #1 was running the 5K bright and early!
Friday morning, 4:45 came really early. REALLY early.
Luckily, #1 was up and ready to go, AND super stoked. #2 said she wanted to come as well, so we packed our sweaters (what? It was 62*!) and headed out.
We parked at Becka's hotel, then walked over to the starting area together. We found Fruit Fly and.... Biker Boy. No Rose :(. Unfortunately, Rose ate some funky calamari, and couldn't make it to the race, so BB kindly took her place (seriously, best BF ever).
#2 and I headed down to the only spectator area on the course - the courtyard between Magic Kingdom and California Adventure.
(Can I just say, how super bummed I was in this course!? Really, RunDisney? Only one spot for spectators? We can't even be at the finish line? Dumb.)
#1 is a super fast runner. Remember how she earned 2nd place in her age group a few months ago? So I was expecting to see her pretty early on, at mile 2.25-ish.
But 20 minutes came and went, no #1. We're having a grand time, cheering on the runners though, so it's cool.
Then 30 minutes. Still no #1. I'm a little concerned.
Then I see Becka and A....
Becka says she thinks #1 was in front of her somewhere. Huh.
I'm frantically looking everywhere - HOW could I miss her!?
Then I hear... "MOM!" I look over, and #1 was sprinting past me. No picture! Argh.
But I did see FF and BB, looking pretty pleased....
Turns out, #1 was taking her time with photo ops :D
So knowing that #1 was safely still on the course, I headed over to our pre-arranged meeting spot, the fountain in front of La Brea Bakery, and waited for everyone to head out. Apparently, the finish line was in some random spot, and they had to walk .25 miles-ish to get out to Downtown Disney. Lame, RunDisney. Lame.
We headed into La Brea Bakery, and proceeded to order a billion plates of kids French Toast, and meet the lovely RadRunner! Rad totally lived up to her name and gifted all of us with tons of GU.... and man, oh man, do I love GU.
#2 was totally impressed with Rad, as well - she sat next to her, and kept whispering things to me about her hair :D
After breakfast, Becka and L, their kids, and I hit up the expo one more time to stock up on some Team Sparkle skirts - I always race in these, and have gotten #1 addicted to them as well :D. After, B, L and their kids, and FF/BB headed to the parks. I took my kidlets home (still no Disneyland for Gabs - bummer :( ).
I ran some errands (thrill a minute, I know), took a quick nap, and then we headed out to the bloggy dinner at Cheesecake Factory.
I'm a mom. A reader. A sometime hiker. A wanna-be chef, an aspiring runner. I like tattoos, Indonesian food, Coach, pretending I can do Yoga, reading, preparing for the zombie apocolypse...

Holy $/:+ . This weekend ROCKED.
To recap quickly....

Saturday: Disneyland 5K, blogger breakfast, blogger dinner.

I really don't know how a recap could even begin to do this weekend justice.
But maybe the pictures will.

Disneyland Blogger Meetup!

Did you know Disneyland Half is only, like, 32 days away?!
And then, we get this giant medal!?

....and, maybe, this?

What could POSSIBLY be better, right?

Mmm. Cheesecake.
We'll be dinnering at Cheesecake Factory off of Katella Saturday evening. Probably 6-7, ish, because we KNOW how early that wake up call is coming Sunday morning.
If you're interseted in joining us (and really, who wouldn't be?), shoot me an email so I can get a headcount and make some reservations.

I don't care. You won't make it.
You guys. The race pace 4 miles I was totally freaked out about yesterday?
I totally killed it.
And I didn't die.
And I didn't feel like I was close to death, either.
Goal pace: 10:28.
Actual pace: 10:18.
Splits: 10:48, 10:26, 10:23, 9:37 <------ 9:37, wtf is that?!
That is all. Go have a beer. I'm declaring this week over, because it sure couldn't get better from there.

OC blogger meetup at the Irvine Farmers Market Saturday morning - email me if you'd like to meet up, we'd love to meet you!

Friday Funny.... OMC, indeed.
....Gabby's ANC number came back REALLY super low this week (meaning, her immune system is REALLY depressed right now), so we were pretty much homebound this weekend anyway. No Carmageddon here.
Have a great Friday!

Um. You guys.
I skipped my tempo run yesterday. I had this conversation via text yesterday with The H....
Right. Didn't happen this morning, either. I suck.
But it was worth it.
Instead of tempo running in The Hot, I had this....
With RunEatRepeat, SkinnyRunner, HungryRunnerGirl, and FasterBunny.
RunEatRepeat was side-eyeing some Dragon Fruit...
Imagine if it had only been hot pink like the ones I ate up last summer...
Skinny Runner really does act like a dude....
Um....
You know you're at a blogger meetup when this happens....
All of them are just as funny, lovely, and gracious in real life as they are on their blogs. And man, they're all WAY faster than me. I listened in awe most of the time during the running talk. If you don't already follow all of them, do it.
We missed OUaL, though... that pretty girl is getting married this weekend. Go wish her good luck!
Good times.
So now I have a conundrum about what to do with my skipped run. I could run it tonight, but I'm scheduled for a long run tomorrow. Normally I would just push that to Sunday, but I sort of committed to a short run with some people tomorrow... I suppose 2 slow and easy miles tomorrow between a tempo and a long easy run won't kill me. Right?

Word(y) Wednesday....
Last night's run: RLRF called for 400's. I'm not fancy enough to run on a track (it scares me, honestly), so I did mine on a treadmill set at 1 incline. I also am math dumb, and can't think and run at the same time - so instead of 100 RI, I did 400 cool down. Don't judge me.
Anyway. My 400 goal pace was 2:24-2:32. .5 mi warm up, then...
1 @ 2:26
2 @ 2:21
3 @ 2:21
4 @ 2:22
5 @ 2:19
and 400 cool down at the end. 3 miles, 33:23.
I am really enjoying this RLRF so far. The pace is always fast enough for me to think twice before starting - like, can I *really* do this?!, but not SO challenging that I can't actually do it.
*******
Are you a fan of delicious flavor? I'm meeting up with some other runner/bloggers at Yogurtland tomorrow evening! If you're in the area, I'd love to meet you - shoot me an email for the details!

Guess what came in the mail yesterday?
Yep... Pearl Izumi cycling shorts, that I got a killer deal on.
Plus....
Coincidence? Probably not...
