I LOVE being tagged in things

....particularly on days I have no blogs ready to post.

Jolene at Journey of a Canuck Mom on the Run tagged me in the 11 Things post that's been going around.

Rules:
1. Post these rules.
2. You must post 11 random things about yourself.
3. Answer the questions set for you in their post.
4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
5. Go to their blog and tell them you've tagged them.
6. No stuff in the tagging section about you are tagged if you are reading this. You legitimately have to tag 11 people.

Randoms about ME

1. I was a child genius. Okay, not really, but I was in the International Baccalaureate program in high school, but decided I was too lazy to follow through, and dropped it for regular high school. I ended up basically repeating everything I did my freshman year, in my sophomore year in honors classes. It was an easy year.

2. I am the oldest kid of 4, and The H is second youngest of 7. Our wedding was almost only family, and was STILL giant.

3. If I didn't think my husband would divorce me in a heartbeat, I would drop work and go to culinary school. I'd rather be cooking.

4. I failed Personal Fitness in high school, and had to retake it. I barely, barely skimmed by. My downfall was? Skipping the running days. I refused to participate, so while the rest of the class walked laps, I would... walk off campus to Taco Bell. For my second PE credit, I took Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries.

5. I love to travel, but I'm terrified of it. Why? Because without fail, almost everywhere I visit, I end up convinced that is where I must now live. House hunting online, job searches, reading school reviews - these are all actual things that I do after vacationing somewhere.

6. When I do travel, one of the very first things I do is check out delicious places to eat. And if there's a Top Chef restaurant in the vicinity, I will find it. I've been to Perilla in NYC 5? maybe 6? times. Hands down, best meal I've ever had. (Psst, Becka, I might have been stalking some menus of spots in Boulder, before we go see my BFF Evan Dando.)

7. I am stupid shy, and would honestly probably not have ANY friends if not for blogging and the internet.

8. I hold grudges for a ridiculous amount of time, but it takes a lot to really piss me off. So I think it balances out just fine.

9. I cannot buy green olives, because I will eat them until I want to puke.

10. I have a spreadsheet for my Disney planning. For the trip in 5.5 months. I spend a lot of time planning a trip to be not over-planned. It always happens this way.

11. I am really, really judgy. As in, I might very well just look at someone, and decide if I do (or do not) like them. And, 97% of the time, my gut reaction is dead on. I tried for awhile to cut this out, because I really get that it's an unattractive trait, but I can't help it.

Phew.

Nooooow, the 11 questions Jolene posted...

1. Did you have a childhood nickname? What was it?
I did not. Well, except for one cousin of mine, who insisted on calling me "Heathey". I know. In retaliation, I added a y to his name, too. And for as long as we hung out, no one else could ever call us by those names except each other.

2. What is the weirdest thing you have ever done while driving?
Um. I don't know how to answer this. I plead the 5th.

3. Do you have any strange phobias? What are they?
Hm. I don't think so - I hate spiders, but it's a true hatred, not a phobia. I don't think I'm phobic about anything?

4. If you could travel to anyplace right now without worrying about finances or how long you are gone, where would you go? Why?
Oy. This is tough. For RIGHT NOW, I'm going to say Disney World. It's centrally located in FL, so both my family and my in-laws could come; the kids love it; it's winter, so the weather doesn't TOTALLY suck. But when the kids are older, I'm going to say train tripping/back packing across Europe, hitting up all types of cozy little towns.

5. What was the last movie you saw in the theater?
Breaking Dawn. Don't judge me.

6. What song always makes you happy when you hear it? Why?
Blister in the Sun, Violent Femmes.

7. If you had to move to another state right now, where would you move and why?
Bah. I love SoCal. If I had to, I guess right now I'd go with.... Hawaii. I can't think of any other state with a climate close to what I have now.

8. Salty or sweet? What is your favorite?
OMG. I don't know if I could pick just one. I guess.... salty??

9. Do you have any pets? What are they are?
No pets. My kids had a goldfish for a day - our upstairs neighbor was moving, and I guess didn't want to take the fish? But I killed it within 12 hours or so. Oops.

10. Snow or rain? Pick your poison.
Rain, no question.

11. Name someone you would love to meet right now, who is currently living? Why would you like to meet them?
Desi. She fascinates me - I love that she was always kind of a slacker in high school, but KNEW what she was capable of. I love that she pursued it, knowing that there were doubts about her ability, and that she had the confidence in herself to live up to her potential.

Now, 11 NEW questions...

1. Do you cross train? (Be honest!)
2. What's your FAVORITE thing about running?
3. And your LEAST favorite?
4. If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what is it?
5. What came first, chicken or the egg?
6. You're stuck on a deserted island - what three books do you wish you had with you?
7. How much time do you spend getting ready before leaving your house for a normal day of work/school/whatever you do?
8. Do you love the treadmill as much as I do?
9. My birthday is coming up (in 6 months)... want to come have a party?
10. What should I get The H for his birthday (next week)?
11. Have you joined Team Gab yet?

I would love to see your spreadsheet if you're willing to share!

And Breaking Dawn was the last movie I saw too. No shame in that.

  4. You crack me up. I noticed you are shy - like my husband. Quiet but then when you get to know him he is actually pretty damn funny (like you).

  6. You're shyness and judgyness freaked me out at first. I couldn't really make any sense of it. It's quietly intimidating.

Now that I've sort-of gotten to know you online, I wish we had spent a hell of a lot more time hanging out in person when we had the chance.

Love your blog - and how inspirational you've been to me to get my ass in gear, so thanks!

  7. This was super fun to read! H, we are so alike :)

I think culinary school would be awesome.
I failed PE for refusing to run and for refusing to put on my PE clothes.
I am super shy, way judgy, use side eye way too much, and hold grudges like you wouldn't believe.
I can't buy green olives because then I would be wasted all the time off extra dirty dry martinis :)
    I have spreadsheets for EVERYTHING.

I'm going to answer your 11 questions just for fun :)
    1. Yes. Love the elliptical.
    2. Favorite thing about running? That I get out of it what I put into it.
    3. Least favorite? The laundry!
    4. Lasagna!
    5. Egg.
    6. The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom, The Spellbinders Gift by Og Mandino {or any of his books!}, and The Shack by William P. Young. Also, The Twilight Series & Hunger Games Series and all books by Dan Brown. Haha.
    7. On average about 30 minutes including showering. I've really streamlined this in the past year. Though I can really drag it out if I have the time. In high school, 2 hours!
    8. No. LOL.
    9. YES! YES! YES!
    10. I stand by the fact that I believe beer is always an excellent birthday gift choice.

  11. Ok..I will go and post, and I am a loser, because I don't have 11 people to ask to do it...so I will create 11 questions and leave it open if they want to answer...so stop by in a bit

  12. #5...yeah...I do that when we travel. And I mean it every time without not meaning it about the place we went last. Basically, I need to be a gazillionaire so I can have houses everywhere.

I love learning all this random crap :) And I didn't think you were shy when we met...just a little bit quiet. You hid it very well :)
